bio
Ah, the dreaded bio. As you may have surmised, I designed this site myself, so I think we can dispense with the whole third-person thing. Much as I'd like to pull a Chris F. Holm was born in a cabin he fashioned with his own two hands sort of deal, I don't think anyone's buying. So anyways, here goes:
I was born in Syracuse, New York , the grandson of a cop with a penchant for crime fiction. It was the year of punk rock and Star Wars, two influences that to this day hold more sway over me than perhaps my wife would like. But it was books that defined my childhood, from my grandfather's Wambaugh and Sanders to the battered pulps I picked up second-hand from the library. I wrote my first story at the age of six. It got me sent to the principal's office. I'd like to think that right then was when I decided to become a writer.
A few years back, I began writing in earnest. The result, thus far, is a smattering of short stories and a novel called The Angels' Share.
As for the non-writey stuff, I was whisked away from upstate New York to the coast of Maine by my lovely, charming wife, where I manage a small marine biology lab. When I'm not writing or in the lab, you can find me annoying the crap out of my neighbors with my guitar.
